4 miles, 2 locks (the same one twice!)

| Lime kilns at the mooring |
Woke to a very bright warm morning. Walked along towpath to see Consall station but it was closed. Took photos of the lime kilns, pub and cantilevered platform and waiting room. Back to the boat to do washing and relax in the sunshine. By now the other four boats had left the moorings so it was just us and the birds.

Decided to move down to Froghall for lunch. This mile and a half took longer than expected as the canal is very narrow and winding - thank goodness we only met one more boat and that was in the lock where it was easy to pass. They reported that there was only one boat down there which looked settled so we should be clear. The scenery was stunning - foxgloves galore about to bloom.

| nb Sweden emerging from the tiny Froghall tunnel |
Winded at the winding hole before Froghall tunnel as we are too high and too wide to get through. We saw a heritage boat - nb Sweden, come through the tunnel from the basin. Here we had a phone signal so able to make contact with Rachael and Mum. Anna had her second lot of immunisations today.
After lunch explored the other side of the tunnel on foot reaching the end of the Caldon canal and seeing the only bit of the Uttoxeter canal that has been restored - one lock and the basin. The basin has pontoons and there are services there but unless you can get through the tunnel they are of little use. We did get rid of the rubbish! We then walked along the road to Kingsley and Froghall station as the tea room was recommended in the Nicholson guide only to be disappointed again as it was closed.
Decided not to stay the night but cruise back to Consall Forge moorings this time meeting a small narrow boat and some canoeists before meeting Cider With Rosie coming out of the lock. No other boats at the moorings. Quiet evening - enjoyed a roast dinner and more Cold Feet.
