Day 45 - Manchester

Friday 17th July

Trip to Salford Quays

Media City

Slow start today catching up with diary and planning day. Caught the metro from Deansgate to Salford Quays. We visited the Lowry Outlet where I could have spent a fortune but only bought two t-shirts.

Had lunch in Pizza Express. We walked and walked to find a non-chain but to no avail.

Blue Peter studio
Next came the Lowry gallery - free entry, amazing to find out more about the artist. He seemed a confused, lonely man put down by his mother. His artwork was much more varied than we imagined and there were lots of originals on display. Needed a cuppa after that.

The Lowry Centre
It was very windy when we came out of the gallery and we fought our way over the bridge crossing the ship canal to media city where BBC and ITV have their studios. Saw the Blue Peter studio. No famous people although we were not really looking.

Back to Castlefield on the metro needed a rest after all that exploring. Much busier in bars near boat and along towpath being Friday. After 9pm decided to join the revellers and walked over to Barca where we enjoyed a drink and people watching.
